About the Base Fort Campbell is a U.S. Army installation between Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Clarksville, Tennessee. The base is home to the 101st Airborne Division and was named after BG William Bowen Campbell, the last Whig Governor of Tennessee. The post is expecting an additional 2,000 troops and another brigade, totalling to a 28,000 active-duty population. About Clarksville As the fastest-growing and 5th-largest city in Tennessee, Clarksville boasts a population of 103,455. As a part of Montgomery County, Clarksville is the central city of the Clarksville-Hopkinsville metropolitan area. Ten miles northwest of Clarksville is the Fort Campbell Military Reservation, which is home of the 101st Airborne, and many military families relocate to Clarksville. There are many points of interest in Clarksville including the Port Royal State Park and the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center. Clarksville is also home to the Dunbar Cave State Natural Area and the Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway.
