About the Base Fort Campbell is a U.S. Army installation between Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Clarksville, Tennessee. The base is home to the 101st Airborne Division and was named after BG William Bowen Campbell, the last Whig Governor of Tennessee. The post is expecting an additional 2,000 troops and another brigade, totalling to a 28,000 active-duty population.
